I think racing fans have had a unique relationship with Baby Yoda. If you remember Baby Yoda delivered a an equivalent, I believe at Saratoga, where he crushed an allowance field sprinting while earning what was for most of then year then d Figure of 114. The only other horse to display such talent that year was a California equivalent to Baby Yoda, a lightly raced 3 year old who had also dismantled allowance horses at a sprint distance. So the two were forever linked, symbiols of the never ending search for the next superstar. I It didnt do Baby Yoda any favors that the Californian referenced above was Flightline,. a horse whose 114 cited above would be a launching point for dominarijf gr1 winning displays of 126, 121.and 118. The latter earned when people saw the differences between Flightline and Baby Yoda in the same race, the gr 1 Malibu at 7 furlongs that Baby Yoda placed in but was beaten more than 12! lengths. Flightline was a living reminder of what at one point some believed Baby Yoda possibke of. And over the years B Yoda would put together a performance that mimicked that of an elite racehorse, but only ever when conpeting against allowance or optional claimers. But when run in stakes races B any Yoda could be depended on running lower speed figures,,not close to good enough to beat elite type found in stakes. It has been tried so often without success that it seemed ridiculous to imagine that at age 6 and on such a large stage, that Baby Yoda would finally put it all together and against the elite of his division and do so in dominating fashion! Just when all that promise had been given up on, well it made me smile.

I've never seen that side view of the stretch run before and I've seen this 1000 times.. This freaking horse makes the best horses in THE WORLD look like they're standing still.

I love how the announcer doesn't even mention the name "Rich Strike" until like 5 strides before he wins because he CAME OUT OF NOWHERE!! LOL Amazing!

Dornoch will be a problem for this 3 year old class for the rest of the year. He just stared down the Preakness winner for a mile and went right past him, then took on the undefeated phenom and looked him in the eye and outdueled him and held him at bay, all while the high priced and highly touted Sierra Leone was looking for excuses not to win again. Dornoch has size and speed but his greatest gift may be his heart. He showed early in his career that he was a determined fighter and he proved that again in the Belmont. The questions about his maturity and fitness were answered as well as the questions of could he carry his speed to get the distance. I see him wiring the field in the Travers Stakes and the Breeder’s Cup to win Horse of the year honors.

If Sierra Leone is arguably the best 3 yo in the country, but he has a propensity to find trouble, his massive jockey upgrade to Flavien Prat should right those problems, and put that argument to rest. And with Irad winning everything in sight, it only makes sense that Mindset and Sierra Leone are the favorites.

i am not familiar with mind frame but Todd sir i 100% agree with you on your top pick seize the grey highly under rated horse and from watching the preakness i honestly think if they had ran him in the derby people would be talking high hopes for a triple crown horse this year cause he flat out out ran every horse in the preakness wire to wire the only one i worry about in this race is sierra leon and i say that by just how fast he was closing in the derby but as you stated that horse runs all over the track he looked like watching a zig zag pattern almost there at the end of the derby and i dont know i'm not horse expert let me say that but i think if you got a horse that goes side to side and doesn't run a straight line race one has to wonder how much speed they lose by drifting so i just don't think he has what he takes to run seize the grey down he may possibly get close or i am leaning more for a 3rd place finish with him but more likely 4th and your 3 speed horses 1 2 3 like you said but if i was to bet this race which i may weather i do just a winner ticket or an exacta he'd be my key to win any bet i place that preakness was just to impressive and i am actually shocked he isn't bet up better then he is
